Industry-first research finds that stablecoins for the first time accounted for 0.95% of consumer-to-consumer cross-border payments volume in 2025, as total cross-border stablecoin volumes rose 64% to $135bn.
London — July 23rd, 2026 — Stablecoins are on the verge of accounting for 1% of the global consumer-to-consumer cross-border payments market for the first time, according to industry-first research.
The finding is part of a new collaboration between FXC Intelligence, the leading provider of cross-border payments data and intelligence, and Allium, the leading onchain data platform. The partnership combines FXC Intelligence’s proprietary global market-sizing datasets with Allium’s proprietary blockchain transaction dataset to provide one of the clearest pictures to-date of stablecoin adoption in cross-border payments.
The analysis found that stablecoins represented 0.95% of global C2C cross-border payments volume in 2025, up from 0.70% in 2024, and are likely to pass the 1% threshold during 2026.
Across all non-wholesale cross-border payment use cases, an estimated $135bn was moved using stablecoins in 2025, representing a 64% increase from $82bn in 2024.
Stablecoins accounted for 0.31% of the overall $44.3tn retail (non-wholesale) cross-border payments market in 2025, up from 0.20% in 2024. However, this overall market share masks substantially higher adoption in use cases involving consumers, and is pulled down by lower adoption in B2B payments, which saw 0.19% of volume moved using stablecoins in 2025.
Daniel Webber, CEO and Founder at FXC Intelligence, said:
“Combining FXC Intelligence’s market-leading insights with Allium’s on-chain data platform gives the industry a far clearer and robust view of the stablecoin cross-border payments landscape. It allows us to identify where stablecoins are being used, how quickly they are growing and where the most meaningful opportunities are emerging.
“What’s clear is that adoption is not uniform. It is developing fastest in areas where consumers are directly exposed to the cost, speed and accessibility challenges associated with traditional cross-border payments.”
Ethan Chan, CEO and Co-Founder of Allium, said:
“The headline stablecoin figures we see in the news are almost always raw transfer volume, dominated by trading, treasury mints and burns, and exchanges moving money between themselves. Allium’s real-world payments data strips that out and geotags what’s genuinely crossing borders, by transaction, across chains like Ethereum, Solana and Tron.
Paired with FXC Intelligence’s rigorous market sizing, this analysis lets us examine stablecoins’ real share of the market by use case and corridor. 1% of global C2C payments is a small share today, but it’s a real, measurable one with enormous room to run.”
